VLATKA HORVAT and EVA WEINMAYR
(July 8 – 18)

Croatian-born artist Vlatka Horvat works in a range of media, from video and performance to works on paper and texts. At the center of her practice is an interest in language, often taking the form of assembled (and re-assembled) word fragments.  Also invested in the behavior of words is London-based German artist Eva Weinmayr, whose series of works based on “teasers” from the London Evening Standard newspaper examines how complex realities are shrunk into sound bites. Weinmayr’s other recent work addresses the systems for immediate communication and the invention of symbols to be found in signage, advertising, or newspapers.
