evas arche und der feminist is an ongoing series of happenings organized by its co-directors Marlous Borm and Pati Hertling. Originally based in Berlin, evas arche und der feminist recently found an American home on the second floor of the New York gallery Gavin Brown's enterprise. With carte-blanche, evas arche und der feminist occupies The Front Room.
In the Front Room evas arche und der feminist presents a sculptural installation by Josef Strau, and two video works by Ken Okiishi and Colin Whitaker. Strau's sculpture serves a double purpose as both artwork and shelter (or hiding-place), and on February 28, the sculpture became a "bar" for a one-time event hosted by Borm and Hertling at the Contemporary. Simultaneously, Berlin-based artist Susanne Winterling (a friend and collaborator of evas arche) presents a recent film on a small screen in the space, which is then projected in full on Saturday, February 28.
On Saturday, February 28, evas arche und der feminist used The Front Room as an actual and tangible place to stage a one-time event and a special performance. Soup and wine was served.
